Why this exists

Why golf trip organizers need a better planning tool

Outing.golf is a golf trip planning tool built for the person organizing the trip. Instead of chasing replies across group texts and spreadsheets, you can collect group input, browse real courses and hotels, vote on favorites, and move everyone toward one confirmed plan.

The date discussion lives in three different places.
Nobody knows the real budget range until it is too late.
Course and lodging ideas get buried in the chat.
The organizer ends up rebuilding the whole trip in a spreadsheet.

How it works

Three steps from scattered idea to confirmed trip

1

Create the outing

Set the destination, date window, budget target, and trip style. Invite your group with a link and they fill out their preferences in one short flow.

2

Compare golf courses and lodging in one place

See live golf courses and hotels matched to your destination and group budget. Vote on favorites right inside the app — no side texts required.

3

Lock the plan in Trip HQ

The group's final destination, course schedule, lodging pick, and packing list all live in one shared Trip HQ every member can see.

From the organizers

From the organizers using it

“I used to spend two weekends just collecting everyone's dates in a group text. With this, the whole group responded in under a day and I had my shortlist by Sunday night.”

“The budget overlap view alone was worth it. I always assumed everyone was on the same page — turns out we had one guy at $600 and one at $1,800. Now we know before we book.”

“Trip HQ is the thing that finally made the whole group feel like they were on the same trip. Everyone could see the schedule, the courses, the packing list — no more 'wait, what hotel are we at?'”

What you get

Everything the group needs, in one place

No more 'is this actually available?' research

Course and lodging results come from live providers so every option you're considering is real, available, and bookable at your destination — not a placeholder you still have to verify.

Stop running polls in the group chat

Everyone votes on destinations, courses, and lodging right in the app. You see where the group is landing in real time — without a single 'hey did everyone vote yet?' message.

Everyone shows up knowing the plan

Assign each course to a specific day and share the full round-by-round schedule inside Trip HQ. No more 'wait, what course are we playing Saturday?' texts the night before.

Nobody shows up missing clubs or rain gear

Add gear to a shared packing list, check items off as you pack, and let the whole group see what's still outstanding before anyone leaves home.

Neil Barris, founder of Outing.golf

From the desk of Neil

I built Outing.golf because I was the guy in the group text. Every spring, same routine — three threads, two spreadsheets, one passive-aggressive “did everyone see my last message.” I wanted one place. So I made it. If your group still books trips, you already know why this exists.

— Neil Barris, founder

How fast does the group actually respond?

Most groups have full responses within 24 hours. The invite is a single link, the form is mobile-first, and it takes a group member under three minutes from tap to submit — no PDF, no spreadsheet, no separate survey tool. The organizer sees responses land in real time.

How do I get my friends to actually fill it out?

You send one link. They click it from their phone, sign in once, and walk through a short flow: dates that work, budget range, destination lean, lodging style. It feels like answering a text, not filling out a form — which is why response rates are dramatically higher than what you'd see in a group chat poll.

How are golf courses and hotels found?

Course options are sourced via Google Places, filtered to your destination. Hotel options come from a live lodging API. Results are ranked by fit with your group's budget and trip style.

Do invitees need accounts?

So every vote and budget number is tied to a real person — no fake names, no duplicates, no spam. Sign-up takes under a minute via email or Google, and your outing stays private to the people you invited.

Can we schedule multiple courses across different days?

Yes. Once the group has voted on courses, the organizer can assign each one to a specific day. The full round-by-round schedule is visible to every group member inside Trip HQ.

Is this trying to replace booking tools?

No. Outing.golf focuses on the planning layer — collecting group input, browsing real options, voting, and building the itinerary. Booking happens directly with the venue or hotel once the group has a clear plan.
